At Luijten Advocaten, we generally charge a fixed hourly rate. If you have legal expenses insurance, we can also work directly through your insurer. In addition, we offer funded legal aid for the following areas of law: law of persons and family law, employment law, tenancy law and general law of obligations. In exceptional cases, this is also possible for inheritance law.
Important information on our fees and billing on a paid basis:
The government offers legal aid for the less well-off. On the website of the Legal Aid Board (www.rechtsbijstand.nl) you can check your eligibility and calculate your own contribution. This looks at your income and assets from two years ago.
Your handling lawyer will check with you during an initial meeting whether you may be eligible for funded legal aid. This allows us to determine together whether this scheme is applicable to your case.
If you think you qualify, please bring your name and address details (e.g. a copy of your passport) and your BSN number. The Legal Aid Board can then request your taxable income from two years ago via the Tax Administration and determine the addition and amount of the own contribution.
In some cases, we also charge so-called out-of-pocket expenses. These include:
There may also be additional costs when funds need to be parked in our third-party money account for an extended period of time.
Note: If you lose in proceedings, you may also face a court costs order. In that case, you will have to pay (part of) the other party's costs, such as lawyer's fees, court fees and any witness expenses.
